01
Browser tabs and launchers are not the same product
A portal that runs in a tab is judged on load behaviour and
panel density; one that ships a launcher is judged on install
size, update handling and how much account information the
client surfaces before a match. Comparing them on a single
'ease of use' axis produces misleading results, so the
catalogue separates the two formats.
02
Onboarding is measured to the first real session
We time from landing page to first playable action, counting
every email confirmation, region selection and tutorial gate
along the way. Portals that front-load account setup before
showing any gameplay consistently score lower on access, even
when the rest of the experience is well built.
03
Scores are revised, not archived
When a portal changes its access model or restructures its
menus, the existing score is amended and the revision date
printed on the entry. Historical scores are not kept as
separate pages, because a rating that no longer describes the
current portal is of little use to a reader.
